Brief History
The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences was established in the 2022/2023 academic session as part of the University’s strategic commitment to developing human capacity in management, governance, and the social sciences. The Faculty was created to respond to the growing demand for skilled professionals, researchers, and leaders capable of addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic, managerial, and developmental challenges.
At inception, the Faculty comprised six academic departments: Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, Public Administration, and Sociology. These departments collectively provide a broad and interdisciplinary academic platform that integrates management education with social science inquiry. Since its establishment, the Faculty has recorded steady growth in student enrolment, academic programmes, and graduate output, reflecting its relevance and contribution to the University’s academic mission.
The Faculty operates in line with the National Universities Commission (NUC) Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) and emphasizes quality teaching, research, ethical standards, and community engagement. Through committed academic staff and continuously reviewed curricula, the Faculty has positioned itself as a hub for training graduates equipped with analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills relevant to Nigeria’s development needs.
