
Northwest University Sokoto has announced the appointment of Professor Mukhtar Umar Bunza as its new Acting Vice Chancellor. This significant development marks a new chapter in the university’s journey towards academic excellence and institutional growth.

Before his new role, Professor Bunza served as the Director of the Centre for Peace Studies at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and had previously held several key administrative and academic positions. He is also a two-time Commissioner for Higher Education in Kebbi State and a respected voice in Nigerian higher education reform.
As Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Bunza is expected to steer Northwest University Sokoto through a transformative era, focusing on academic quality, research excellence, and community engagement.
