Dear Students and Valued Members of the General Public, on behalf of the College of Health Sciences, NWUS, I am honored to welcome you to an academic community dedicated to advancing health through learning, service, and excellence. Our college offers two key pathways for professional growth: the (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program for future physicians and a broad range of Allied Health degree (BSc Nursing Sciences, BMLS, Radiography, doctor of Physiotherapy and BSc Public Health) programs that prepare skilled healthcare practitioners. Whether you are considering your first step into healthcare education, continuing your professional development, or simply learning about our mission as part of the wider community, we are committed to offering you relevant information, meaningful engagement, and a clear vision for the future of health.
At the College of Health Sciences, we believe that the foundation of effective healthcare begins with education. That is why our programs are designed not only to teach medical knowledge and practical skills, but also to shape character and professional identity. We aim to produce graduates who are confident clinicians, responsible team members, and ethical leaders who contribute to safer and higher-quality care.
We prepare graduates to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that each patient receives care that is timely, accurate, and respectful.
As Provost, I want to emphasize that our College is committed to quality in teaching, learning and character . We strive to provide a supportive academic environment where students can thrive. Our faculty members are dedicated educators and mentors who guide learning through structured instruction, assessment, and clinical supervision. We foster a culture of academic integrity and discipline—because ethical practice is essential in healthcare. We also recognize that learning does not only happen in classrooms or laboratories. It also happens in wards, community sites, and real-life health settings where students encounter human stories behind medical conditions. Through these experiences, students learn professionalism, learn to communicate respectfully, and learn to apply knowledge with responsibility.
Just as important as our commitment to student training is our commitment to the community.
To the general public, we want you to know that you are part of our purpose. The decisions you make about your health, the questions you ask, and the support you give to healthcare services help shape healthier communities. We encourage you to engage with our college initiatives, take advantage of health awareness opportunities, and collaborate with NWUS, the College welcomes every opportunity to contribute to improved health literacy and access.
To our students, I say: you are stepping into a profession that carries great responsibility and enormous impact. Your education will shape the way you treat people, the care you provide, and the standards you uphold. Embrace your studies with discipline and purpose. Participate actively in learning activities, ask questions, practice skills diligently, and treat everyone with respect. Surround yourself with positive academic habits and take feedback seriously. Most importantly, remember that you are preparing to serve real lives. Your growth as a professional should always be anchored in service, humility, and kindness.
At the same time, the College of Health Sciences will continue to invest in the quality of our teaching resources and training experiences. We aim to improve learning facilities, strengthen partnerships with healthcare institutions, and ensure that students receive supervision that supports safe and effective practice. We also seek to build strong student support systems—academic advising, mentoring, and opportunities to develop leadership and communication skills—so that students can succeed not only academically, but also personally.
In conclusion, I invite you to see the College of Health Sciences as a place where you can learn, grow, and contribute to the wellbeing of society.
