Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG) Visits Vice Chancellor of Northwest University, Sokoto, Professor Ahmad Ibrahim Maigari
A delegation from the Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Northwest University, Sokoto, Professor Ahmad Maigari Ibrahim. Led by their newly elected president, Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi of the University of Abuja, the delegation expressed their admiration and support for the Vice Chancellor and his achievements.
The visit took place the day after the opening ceremony of the association’s 63rd annual conference, held at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto. Professor Maigari, who served as the chair of the ceremony, was recognized by the association for his accomplishments and contributions to the field of geography.
During the visit, the Registerer of Northwest University, Umar GB Musa cfa, warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced them to the university and its management. Professor Sani, in his address, emphasized the importance of the visit as a gesture of respect and recognition for the Vice Chancellor, who is a product of the association. He congratulated Professor Maigari as the fifth Geographer to hold the position of Vice Chancellor and wished him success in his role.
In response, Professor Maigari expressed his gratitude for the visit and the support shown by the association. He reiterated his commitment to the development of geography and education as a whole. He also highlighted the challenges of running a nonprofit-oriented university and emphasized the importance of support and guidance from esteemed organizations like the Association of Nigerian Geographers.
Dr. Bashir Suleiman, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Computing, who was also present at the conference’s opening ceremony, commended the association for celebrating the Vice Chancellor and Northwest University. He extended his best wishes to the visitors and wished them a safe journey back.
The visit not only strengthened the bond between the Association of Nigerian Geographers and Northwest University but also reiterated the importance of collaboration and support in advancing the field of geography in Nigeria.
